Doubts expressed over Pak-Afghan match in Asiad

Doubts expressed over Pak-Afghan match in Asiad ISLAMABAD: Match fixing news in Pakistan cricket are spreading once again as Eleven Star Club here today blamed that the match played between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the Asian Games was doubtful.

Pakistan was handed an upset defeat by minnows Afghanistan in the semi-finals of the men’s cricket at the Asiad.

After this match, Pakistan wicketkeeper Naeem Anjum was dropped for the bronze medal match against Sri Lanka.

The reason for dropping him was reported his abusing against team skipper Khalid Latif and manager Chaudhry Mohammad Anwar.

Javed Ali Khan, chief of the Eleven Star, a local club of Islambabad, blamed in a letter to the Pakistan Cricket Board that the said match was doubtful because captain Khalid Lateef deliberately did not bat to the required run rated while Azeem Ghumman missed many balls.

He said that Naeem Anjum did not drop catches as it was said by the team management.

Javed demanded from the Board to investigate this whole incident.
